Educate to prevent: unwanted visitors and what are alien invasive species?

Invasions of non-native species have long been a silent issue, but with an impact difficult to calculate at diffeent ecological, economic and health levels. Many exotic species cause more damage than documented. The issue has overwhelmed us by not knowing who we are facing and how we could stop them. Therefore, it is necessary to influence the different educational levels to contextualize teachers and students about this environmental problem; surely from this sector can contribute to the eradication and control of invasive species. The National Strategy on Invasive Species in Mexico (National Advisory Committee on Invasive Species, 2010) was created to address this problem. In order to carry out any action against exotic species, it is necessary to know what they are and where they are distributed, for which data can be used that with the help of Citizen Science are placed on platforms such as Naturalist. These data increase the information and allow us to monitor the problem species that could be controlled and eradicated in the future.
