Reflections on social practices and online teaching in teacher training schools during the COVID-19 confinement phase

Abstract

As with other tertiary educational levels, teacher training schools were presented with the need to adapt academic life in an expedited fashion. This text reflects on the experiences lived by three teachers employed at Escuela Normal Superior Veracruzana “Dr. Manuel Suárez Trujillo“. It focuses briefly on lack of connectivity, training, and teacher migration towards a “technology enhanced -student centered teaching approach”, as some of the greatest challenges in the remote learning education context in our country. It raises problems and strategies development of academic activities, as well as successes and opportunities in the management of assertive social practices and incorporation of technology in the subjects of English, Teaching Practice II, Didactic Proposal Workshops II and Social Language Practice. Finally, reflections on the new challenges of the 21st century citizen are presented in the face of unprecedented situations faced in a complex and dynamic society.
